Learn all aspects of forklift safety, including operating controls, data plates, safety equipment, proper fuel handling, battery power and lift trucks, handling emergencies, load handling, and much more. A temporary license is issued upon completion; however, 10 hours of practical on-the-job training under a licensed driver is now required to obtain a permanent license. |

Fireman Level: This course will assist students preparing to write the Department of Municipal Government Protection Services Boiler and Pressure Vessel Unit Fireman's Certificate. This program is appropriate for persons working as building operators in manufacturing processes dealing with steam or hot water boilers. Topics include lower pressure heat boilers, fuel and firing equipment, automatic controls, jumps, piping fittings, valves, steam and hot water heating, ventilation, basic electricity, and the Boiler & Pressure Vessel Act. |

| Description: |
5th Class Level: Improve skills and knowledge of facilities using steam or hot water boilers, refrigeration equipment, pumps and heating systems. Water treatment and quality control in boilers and cooling systems are also covered. Fifth Class is the certification level for low pressure boiler operation, usually related to residential apartment and commercial buildings, and operators are limited to boiler operations of 103 kPA maximum steam pressure. Successful students will be well-prepared to challenge the Provincial 5th Class Exam. |

Topics presented will include identifying what ground disturbance is; what permits will be required; how to locate and identify underground facilities; regulations associated with ground disturbance; reclamation and safety requirements; and how to minimize the impact on the environment. Typical agreements and contracts associated with ground disturbance operations will also be reviewed. |

| Description: |
You will be made aware of the hazards in confined spaces and know how to execute an entry safely. Identification of confined spaces and hazard identification, evaluation and control are discussed. The course reinforces the need for proper pre-planning procedures and provides rescue methods should the confined space worker be in peril. Content includes entry procedures, SCBA equipment, and rescue techniques and safety equipment. All OH&S legislation pertaining to confined spaces and SCBA will be covered. Each student will be provided with a workbook complete with all relevant OH&S regulations. |
