Commercial Pesticide Applicator: On-Farm Fumigation [SIAST] | Wynyard
Description: This course provides you with the basic knowledge of using Aluminum Phosphide for control of insects stored in grain and control of ground squirrels on your own farm. It is also for elevator employees to control insects in grain stored in the elevator. Separate application must be made to Sask Ag & Food for a license after completing the course. Part of this course was formerly known as “Grain Fumigation.”

Grain Marketing Basics [SIAST] | Wynyard
Description: This workshop will provide you with a sound understanding of basic grain marketing principles and strategies. This information will enable you to identify marketing opportunities within your grain enterprise that will increase the returns to your production system. Highlights of the course include examining key factors that influence grain price, pricing options available through the Canadian Wheat Board, and the role of technical and fundamental analysis in the establishment of grain prices.

Advancing Your Grain Marketing Strategies [SIAST] | Wynyard
Description: This course is for producers wishing to incorporate the use of futures and/or options in their marketing programs. You will gain an appreciation of the uses and limitations of these marketing strategies within a grain enterprise. Highlights include assessing potential hedging strategies, examining potential strategies to incorporated Fixed Price Contracts and/or Early Payment Options available from the CWB, and commodity options and their uses/limitations within a grain enterprise. It is recommended that you have participated in the Grain Marketing Basics course.

Name: Adult Basic Education Level Four (Grade 12)
Description: Do you need to upgrade for entry into post-secondary training programs?

Level Four includes Adult Secondary Completion and GED (General Educational Development). Under Adult 12 policy, an adult may attain a Grade 12 standing by completing seven credit classes successfully. You can also upgrade your marks for entry into post-secondary training.

Description: Effective September 15, 2009, everyone operating a pleasure craft fitted with a motor and used for recreational purposes must hold a Pleasure Craft Operator (PCO) card. Get your certification today! Our offices have Study Guides available, and if you wish, call us to make arrangements to challenge the BOAT Exam.

Red Cross First Aid/CPR with AED | Wynyard
Description: This course includes First Aid & CPR Guidelines 2005, and meets OHS regulations for Standard First Aid. These are comprehensive first aid & CPR techniques for those who need training for work requirements, or who want more knowledge to respond to emergencies in the workplace or home. We cover a variety of topics from basic (such as cardiovascular and breathing emergencies, CPR Level C, prevention of disease transmission) to in-depth topics, such as sudden medical conditions and injuries to the head and spine. Continuing Care Assistant Certificate Program - SPCR 182
Description:
You will receive training in gerontology; dementia management strategies, promoting independence in a safe environment working with people from all cultures with different levels of physical and cognitive impairment, giving personal care, and much more. Formely known as Home Care/Special Care Aide this program provides knowledge and skill development in helping people help themselves in their homes and in special care facilitites.

We have many programs that target local industry and trades training, such as pre-trades electrical, plumbing, and carpentry courses, as well as WHMIS and Construction Safety training.

 

Forklift Operator Safety Training | Wynyard
Description: Learn all aspects of forklift safety, including operating controls, data plates, safety equipment, proper fuel handling, battery power and lift trucks, handling emergencies, load handling, and much more. A temporary license is issued upon completion; however, 10 hours of practical on-the-job training under a licensed driver is now required to obtain a permanent license.

Power Engineering | Wynyard
Description: Fireman Level:
This course will assist students preparing to write the Department of Municipal Government Protection Services Boiler and Pressure Vessel Unit Fireman's Certificate. This program is appropriate for persons working as building operators in manufacturing processes dealing with steam or hot water boilers. Topics include lower pressure heat boilers, fuel and firing equipment, automatic controls, jumps, piping fittings, valves, steam and hot water heating, ventilation, basic electricity, and the Boiler & Pressure Vessel Act.

Description: 5th Class Level:
Improve skills and knowledge of facilities using steam or hot water boilers, refrigeration equipment, pumps and heating systems. Water treatment and quality control in boilers and cooling systems are also covered. Fifth Class is the certification level for low pressure boiler operation, usually related to residential apartment and commercial buildings, and operators are limited to boiler operations of 103 kPA maximum steam pressure. Successful students will be well-prepared to challenge the Provincial 5th Class Exam.

Ground Disturbance | Wynyard
Description: Topics presented will include identifying what ground disturbance is; what permits will be required; how to locate and identify underground facilities; regulations associated with ground disturbance; reclamation and safety requirements; and how to minimize the impact on the environment. Typical agreements and contracts associated with ground disturbance operations will also be reviewed.

Confined Space | Wynyard
Description: You will be made aware of the hazards in confined spaces and know how to execute an entry safely. Identification of confined spaces and hazard identification, evaluation and control are discussed. The course reinforces the need for proper pre-planning procedures and provides rescue methods should the confined space worker be in peril. Content includes entry procedures, SCBA equipment, and rescue techniques and safety equipment. All OH&S legislation pertaining to confined spaces and SCBA will be covered. Each student will be provided with a workbook complete with all relevant OH&S regulations.

Drumming Workshop | Wynyard
Description: Learn the basic elements of social drumming. Using the drum circle, you will enjoy meeting other interesting people, exploring rhythm, and sharing common experiences. No previous experience is needed. More knowledgeable drummers can take this class for a relaxed drumming experience. The class is based on the rhythms and cultural expressions of Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. All drums and percussion instruments are supplied.
